What if practicing early math could also take your child on a trip through history?
Cub Club Builders: History on the Move combines shapes, patterns, counting, spatial reasoning, and hands-on building with a playful introduction to transportation history.
Children build six different forms of transportation while discovering how the ways people traveled changed over time.
No history memorization required. Just cut, build, play, and discover. Build your way through history.
Build Your Way Through Transportation History
This Beginning Builder collection includes six hands-on builds:
Build a Covered Wagon
Use basic shapes to complete a covered wagon while discovering how families traveled overland before cars.
Build a Steamboat
Build a steamboat while practicing shapes and counting and discovering how steam power changed water travel.
Build a Steam Train
Complete a steam train while exploring patterns and learning how railroads helped connect people and places.
Build a Sailboat
Use shapes and spatial reasoning to build a sailboat while discovering how wind helped people travel across the water.
Build an Early Automobile
Practice number recognition and counting while building one of the machines that would change everyday travel.
Build an Airplane
Use shapes and spatial reasoning to complete an airplane and discover the beginning of powered flight.
More Than a Shape Activity
Each Builder begins with a historical connection and then lets your child physically build what they're learning about.
As they turn shapes, continue patterns, count pieces, recognize numbers, and decide where everything belongs, they're practicing early math skills while developing a simple understanding of how transportation changed over time.
Learning Behind the Building
Your child will practice:
- Shape recognition
- Counting and number recognition
- Patterns
- Spatial reasoning
- Problem solving
- Fine motor skills
- Following directions
- Early history concepts
- Sequencing and comparing
And because the completed mats can be used again, the learning doesn't have to stop when the pieces are put away.
Build It Again—with Playdough!
Once your child has completed a picture with the included pieces, reuse the mats as playdough mats.
Roll, squish, and shape playdough to recreate the missing pieces—or build something completely new.
It's another way to strengthen little hands while giving children another opportunity to explore the shapes that make up each historical vehicle.
Bonus Transportation Timeline
Once you've built them all, take a look at how transportation changed over time with the included bonus timeline.
The timeline isn't designed for memorizing dates. It's simply a visual way for little learners to see that the ways people traveled didn't all appear at once—new ideas and inventions changed transportation over time.
