How to Make a Toilet Paper Roll Decoder

Supplies Needed

  • Toilet paper roll
  • 3 different colors of paper
  • Glue
  • Marker

Step 1:

Cut out three strips of paper.

  1. The first strip should be the same length as the toilet paper roll. (This is a great place to use patterned paper!)
  2. The second strip should be smaller than the first.
  3. The third strip should be even smaller than the second.

(Refer to the picture for sizing guidance!)

Step 2:

Write out the letters.

  1. On the slighter, longer piece of paper, write the letters A-N in capitals. Make sure you place the letters about two finger spaces in from the left.
  2. On the smaller piece of paper, write letters o-z in lowercase. Plus, add a “.” and an “!” Make sure you write them against the left-hand edge.

Step 3:

Wrap the paper around the toilet paper roll and tape it.

  1. Start with the longest piece. Add glue all over the toilet paper roll and add the paper. Tape the end for extra security.
  2. Take the second longest piece and wrap it around the toilet paper roll. Tape the ends. Make sure that it is loose enough to slide but not too loose it falls off.
  3. Repeat with the smallest piece of paper.
