WEEK ONE

Activity 1. Flag-tastic Art

Let's kick things off with a splash of creativity! Grab some construction paper, paints, and glitter (because everything is better with glitter, right?). Help your little artist create their very own American flag masterpiece. They can paint the stripes, glue the stars, and sprinkle glittery magic. It's a surefire way to make the stars and stripes shine! To take it further, explore making different versions of the American flag. While crafting away, share the information below with your little one so they understand the importance of the American flag.

What is the American flag all about?

Did you know the American flag is more than just a piece of cloth? It symbolizes freedom, unity, and pride for the United States. The flag has 13 stripes, representing the original 13 colonies, and 50 stars, representing the 50 states. So, every time you see the American flag, remember that it stands for the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Activity 2. Statue of Liberty Crown

What's more fun than pretending to be the Statue of Liberty? Help your kindergartener channel their inner Lady Liberty by making a crown fit for a statue. Grab some green construction paper, markers, and glue. Cut out a crown shape, decorate it with markers, and attach a torch made from yellow paper. Voila! Your little one is ready to enlighten the world! While crafting away, share the information below with your little one so they understand the importance of the Statue of Liberty.

Why is the Statue of Liberty so important?

Imagine a giant lady holding a torch and welcoming people from all over the world. That's the Statue of Liberty! This iconic statue is a symbol of hope, freedom, and opportunity. It was a gift from France to the United States and has become a symbol of American values. So, next time you see Lady Liberty, give her a big wave and say, "Thank you for welcoming us all!"

Time to bring one of America's founding fathers to life! Get crafty with some popsicle sticks, construction paper, and googly eyes. Help your kindergartener create a George Washington puppet. They can use markers to draw his iconic wig and attach googly eyes for that extra touch of personality. Now, they can have their very own presidential puppet show! While crafting away, share the information below with your little one so they understand the importance of George Washington.

Who is George Washington and why is he a hero?

George Washington was not just any ordinary person. He was the United States' first president and played a crucial role in shaping the country. WEEK THREE

Activity 1. Liberty Bell Music

Let's make some noise! Teach your kindergartener about the Liberty Bell while having a musical blast. Grab a small bell or make one out of paper and tape. Help your little musician decorate the bell with markers or stickers. Then, encourage them to ring the bell and create their very own Liberty Bell concert. It's music to our ears!

What is the liberty bell and what does it represent?

Some say the Liberty Bell rang for the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Can you imagine how exciting that must have been? It's like the bell was saying, "Hey, everyone, listen up! We're free!" You see, the Liberty Bell has a crack in it. And that crack makes it even more special. It's like a reminder that even though things might be broken, we can still find strength and fight for what's right.
